Swimming, snorkeling, island tour and birdwatching
West Papua province of Indonesia is the most important travel destination for marine tourism. Coral reef in Raja Ampat islands is considered as the richest for its marine bio-diversity. There are thousands of species of fish and other marine creatures that can be found in the region.
ITINERARY
Day 1
- We will meet you at the hotel where you stay in Sorong city and organize your transfer to Raja Ampat by a fast passenger ferry. It takes approximately 2 hours to reach Waigeo island.
- Arriving at the harbor of Waisai, we will continue our trip by car to a beach resort.
- Check into the resort. Lunch. Rest a little. Tour participants could enjoy swimming and snorkeling at the beach. The coral reef is the natural habitat of a lot of species of fish such as anemonefish, striped surgeonfish, grouper, sweetlips, boxfish, lionfish, wrasse, goby, moorish idol, butterflyfish, and a lot more.
- General birding in the afternoon at around 17:00 to 18:00. Dinner at 19:00. Night walk to look for nocturnal birds could be organized at around 20:30 until 22:00. Rest.
Day 2
- We will wake up early in the morning and go hiking to watch Red Bird of Paradise (Paradisaea rubra) as well as other tropical birds in the forest.
- Return to the resort.
- Lunch and rest.
- Swimming and snorkeling time.
- Birding activity at 16:30 to 18:00.
Day 3
- Birding trip early in the morning from 05:00 to around 09:00 to see Wilson's Bird of Paradise.
- Back to resort for rest. Lunch at 12:00.
- Swimming and Snorkeling time.
Day 4
- Early in the morning, we will go to Piaynemo
- On the way back visit Arborek, and sand-bank.
- Back to beach resort and rest.
Day 5
- We will have general birding trip in morning
- Back to resort for lunch
- Check out at 12:30
- We will leave Raja Ampat by fast passenger ferry for Sorong city.
Extended trip - Your tour in Raja Ampat could be extended to several more days in the islands. We could also provide wildlife tour to Klasow valley of Sorong regency where tour participants could see birds of paradise,and other animals such as cuscus, dorcopsis and fruit bats in the jungle.
How to get there
There are several Indonesian airlines such as Garuda, Sriwijaya, Lion, Batik and Wings Air that connect Sorong city in the Province of West Papua with other cities in Indonesia. These airlines operate various kinds of airplanes that serve regular flights from major cities in Indonesia to Sorong city. Tickets can be bought online through such websites as tiket.com; and traveloka.com. After arriving in Sorong city, visitors can continue their trip to Raja Ampat by speedboat, passenger ferry.
